Working out being divine and human

Updated: May 15, 2019

We human beings can feel regret about the lives we have lived and the lives we haven’t. We shoulder the heavy burden of the life we haven’t lived. We feel anguish about choices we have made, the near misses, wrong turns, losses and heartaches, hopes and dreams that slipped away, and those parts where we feel to have failed. In your life so far there’s simply only what you did do and what you didn’t do. Our added suffering is when we look at ourselves and our lives through eyes of judgment. One thing is sure, you can’t go back in time and undo what you did or didn’t do. What you can do is more consciously and mindfully direct and live your life going forward. But even this we will not do perfectly. Have compassion on yourself. The truth Jesus bore witness to is that each of us are both divine and human. What that means you don’t work out all at once, and this was even true of Jesus himself. It’s messy. It’s beautiful. It’s maddening. It’s liberating. But in all of this there is nothing to really achieve or attain. You are already loved just as you are. This has been true at every moment in your life and always will be. You are inseparably part of a loving and harmonious whole. There is nothing to fear, ever.
